Candy Dessert Buffet at Your Event
When you think buffet or hear the word buffet you may automatically think chicken, pizza, pasta, fruit or salad. Even when there is a buffet at weddings, social events or business luncheons with a buffet you still think main courses and sides. But what is the one thing you look forward to the most? The end of the meal when the cake or other dessert is served. You just had what might be the salty and sometimes even bland and now you need that sweet to finish the meal. So why is that at most social events and parties the desserts are kept in the kitchen and only brought out as a single serving or there is only one dessert such as a wedding cake that is displayed nicely but offers you absolutely no choice or chance for seconds. LET’S CHANGE THAT!
I was browsing the internet searching for ideas and I came across an article about dessert buffets. I thought what an awesome idea! I have to tell you I absolutely love cake with buttercream icing but there are many people that do not. There are actually even some people out there that don’t like chocolate. I’m sure right now you’re saying, SHUT UP…how can someone not like chocoalte? I don’t know either but they’re out there!
So this article got me thinking the display table I use for my business when doing shows could easily be transformed into a candy and dessert buffet. The beauty of these is that all you would need are a couple of nice but plain serving pieces to display the candy on and a vase for some chocolate bar flowers, maybe even a huge martini or wine glass filled with a favorite candy. This would be a no mess candy table that offers lollipops, personalized candy bars in several varieties. Other hard candies can be added to mintbooks and even gum! And who’s not looking for a mint or gum at a social event after eating. This is perfect I say….just perfect. By using personalized wrappers for all the candy you won’t need to purchase any expensive decorations for the table because the candy will serve as dessert, decorations, a thank you to all the guests and once the wrappers are empty they also make great keepsakes that can be added to a photo book or scrapbook!
When planning your next event save yourself and others money and time by not baking and consider a candy buffet at your next event. Take an ordinary party and turn it into a conversation piece that your guests will be talking about for days!!

Summer Cookouts
Depending on your location you may call it the backyard BBQ, or perhaps pig pickin’. I’m from the south originally, Shelby, NC to be exact and for those of you that have never heard of Shelby it’s about 50 miles SW of Charlotte, NC–home of the Carolina Panthers….go Cats!) My husband is from Maryland and he calls it a BBQ but no matter what you call it the ingredients are all the same. Summer, Food, Friends, Family and Fun!!
Summer cookouts have something else in common, especially in the south, DESSERTS and don’t forget the drinks.
(however when I say drink I’m thinking Coke, Pepsi, Sweet Tea and even bottled water but when my hubbie says drink he’s talking the alcoholic type) Sometimes we still culture shock one another and BTW we do live in NC now…but not my home town
Back to the DESSERTS and let’s call them beverages to be safe. If you’re like me you want to be unique and like personalization in everything. Personalizing something just makes things seem more special than they already are. Why not do the same for your cookouts? And even family reunions! Instead of slaving over making desserts use perosnalized candy bars with a welcome message on the front and a thank you on the back. Inside will be a chocolate surprise. You didn’t take a ton of time to get them together, they are personalized and less for you to cleanup plus they add to the party theme so that’s less decorations to buy! Guests can also keep the wrappers as a keepsake of the party, if they want to that is! You could even put a family picture on the back…this would be especially great for family reunions..you know the family members that you don’t see often enough to always remember their names or their kid’s names…this is perfect (just gave me an idea for my family reunion and my Christmas cards this year).
For the beverages here is a really cool idea! You know how a lot of time at a party or cookout you lose track of who’s cup is who’s? Well here is an awesome solution. Buy bottled beverages and make a bottle label for each guest with their name printed on it and when it’s time for a new drink they can just remove and reapply the label to the next bottle. Dependingo on the size and type of cookout you’re having that may not work but you could also use cups to apply the labels. I’m gonna give this a try on some small kid cups at my son’s b-day party in July and I’ll let you know how well it works!
Let me know how you personalize your summer cookouts!
