I like Halloween but I’m not the ghostly, ghorry, super scary Halloween type.  I’m more of a cutesy, everything has a smile and no super creepy noises or yucky gross stuff.  I know, I know you’re probably saying then what’s the fun of Halloween?

I’ll tell you how we plan to make our Halloween party kid friendly and super cute. Since I have a 5 and 2 yr old and our guest lists consists of cousins in the same age rage I’ve decided to keep it simple and cute.  For decorations I’ll be using lots of fall colors, scarecrows, pumpkins, one lit up jack-o-lantern, and lots and lots of fall colored leaves.  These are all decorations I have on hand.  I love to decorate for Fall so I’ll be using those decorations and adding some bats, a spider web, some smiling pumpkins and maybe some cute little black Halloween cats to dress it up cute Halloween style for the party.  When we’re done with Halloween we’ll just take down the Halloween deco but we’ll still have all the fall decorations and be ready for Thanksgiving…no double decorating and you save a ton of money by not buying the double decorations as well.  I’ll also be decorating with orange and black streamers, orange and black balloons, plates and napkins.  By choosing a color rather than a theme for plates you save lots of money and it still looks great!  Not to mention you can buy these items at the Dollar Tree.  When on sale you can get a better deal at Party City but you need to check prices before you buy.  Party City usually puts all holiday deco on sale at 50% off or more the week before an event.

We’ll be having some fun activities such as a craft that you can find in the blog labeled “Crafty, Cute and Easy”, a weenie roast outside, bobbing for apples and a not too spooky story time.  Everyone, even the adults, will be dressing up and there will be a costume contest for both kids and adults!  Don’t forget all the pictures we’ll be taking.

To dress up some of the food we’ll have the all time favorite Halloween sugar cookies, green punch (see Green Punch Recipe under Planning tips), chips and green dip (just add a little green food coloring and mix), mini sandwich wraps, weenie roast, smores and of course hot chocolate and cider. Oh, and I can’t forget the 3-D pumpkin cake!

This is a great low cost, low maintenance Halloween good time!
